Valley Baseball League and Charlottesville Tom Sox Release 2019 Schedule

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Valley Baseball League released its 2019 schedule on Thursday, January 31.

The Charlottesville Tom Sox will open the season at Harrisonburg on Thursday, May 31 at 7:30 p.m. Click below to see the entire schedule.

After opening the season with three straight road games, The Tom Sox will take the field at C-VILLE Weekly Ballpark for the first time in 2019 against the Covington Lumberjacks on June 5. It will mark the second time in team history that the Tom Sox have opened against the Lumberjacks at home.

For the first time, the 2019 schedule features three Sunday afternoon games, on June 16th and 23rd and July 21st, all at 3:00 P.M. The popular Fourth of July series between Charlottesville and Waynesboro also continues as the Generals head east to face the Tom Sox at 6:00 P.M. The Tom Sox have faced the Generals on Independence Day every year other than 2016, when the game was postponed due to weather.

The Tom Sox play three separate 3+ game homestands this season. Charlottesville will host Covington, Woodstock, and Waynesboro on consecutive nights to start the season at home, before embarking on a 4-game homestand in which they host Covington, Purcellville (at 3pm), Woodstock, and Winchester June 15-19. Their final 3-game homestand includes games against Strasburg, Waynesboro, and Staunton July 3-5.

Charlottesville will face defending VBL Champion New Market on three occasions in 2019. Two of the three games against the Rebels are on the road. Charlottesville also faces VBL North Division foes, Purcellville and Front Royal on the road twice next season, while the Woodstock River Bandits and Winchester Royals travel to C-VILLE Weekly Ballpark twice. The Tom Sox play each South Division team six times – three times at home and three on the road.
