WAYNESBORO, Va. – The Charlottesville Tom Sox fell to the Waynesboro Generals by a score of 5-0 in a game shortened by rain.  In the middle of the eighth inning, the skies opened up, and the game was delayed before being called.

This is the first game all season that the Tom Sox have been shutout.

Carson Skipper (Auburn) made his first career start for the Tom Sox on the mound and settled in after the first two innings.  Skipper gave Charlottesville four innings of work, allowing two runs.

Following a scoreless inning of relief from Carden Mellown (Huntingdon) in the fifth inning for the Tom Sox, Waynesboro scored a run in the sixth inning to bolster their lead to 3-0.

The Generals tacked on two more insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to make it 5-0.

The Tom Sox struggled with driving home runners as they were only outhit by Waynesboro 8-7 on the night.

Charlottesville is off tomorrow for the VBL All-Star Game in Harrisonburg.  The Tom Sox are back in action at home Monday night as they host the Generals again at 7 PM. It is First Responders Night at the ballpark, and all first responders get into C-VILLE Weekly Ballpark free of charge.
