Leading Off

The Tom Sox and River Bandits meet for the first time this season.

The Tom Sox eclipsed the plateau of 100 wins on Tuesday with a win over Winchester.

The all-time series has been heavily tilted towards Charlottesville, with the Tom Sox taking 8 of 11 total games from the Bandits.

This meeting is the second in a three-game homestand for Charlottesville.

The Tom Sox are currently riding a 3-game win streak.

Woodstock is experiencing a resurgence under Hall of Fame coach Mike Bocock, and the Bandits are already two wins away from matching their entire 2018 win total (5).

Kings of the Big Inning

In their three wins this season, 30 of Charlottesville’s 39 runs scored have come in innings with more than three runs scored.

17 of those 30 have been innings with five or more runs scored.

In comparison, opponents have scored only three of their 14 total runs off of 3+-run innings in that span.

An Even Distribution

The ninth inning is the only in which the Tom Sox have scored less than three runs (0).

Charlottesville has scored at least nine runs in all three of their wins this season.

Opponents have only scored that many once: Charlottesville’s one loss on the season to Harrisonburg.

League-Leading Sluggers

The Tom Sox hold three of the ten league leaders in batting average:

   Cayman Richardson, .474

   Ramon Garza, .429

   Dan Harwood, .417

Only one other team (Waynesboro) has two in the top 10 in batting average.

Harwood and Richardson also appear in the top 10 of league RBIs (6 & 5, respectively), while Kevin Madden joins them with six.

Charlottesville places four in the top 10 of league runs scored:

  Walker Imwalle (6)

  Richardson (9)

  Garza (9)

  Madden (5).

Three also place into the top 10 in hits:

  Richardson (9)

  Madden (6)

  Garza (6)
