Tom Sox Secure 100th Franchise Win with 12-7 Win over Winchester

WINCHESTER, Va. – In their third game of their fifth season, the Charlottesville Tom Sox secured their 100th win in exciting fashion.

On the fourth anniversary of their first game in franchise history, the Tom Sox bested the Winchester Royals 12-7. It was a tight ballgame in Winchester until the eighth inning, when the Tom Sox drove home five runs to regain the lead and go up 12-7.

Dan Harwood (Wooster) and Cayman Richardson (Virginia) continued their respective hot streaks from the plate. Harwood hit a two-run home run in the eighth inning as a part of his four-hit night. Richardson added three RBI and four hits. Both players went a combined 8-9 at bat tonight.

Jake Haney (William & Mary) got the Tom Sox off to a strong start on the mound, allowing four runs in four innings. Joe Sprake (Elon) followed Haney, and held the Royals to three runs in three innings. Cole McNamee (Wake Forest) and Antonio Balducci (Richmond) also made their debuts in the eighth inning allowing no runs.

The Tom Sox look to continue their two-game winning streak into Wednesday night’s game against Covington. It is the first game in a three-game home-stand and first pitch will be at 7:00 p.m.
