CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Charlottesville Tom Sox picked up their third straight victory with a 9-3 victory over the Covington Lumberjacks on Wednesday night.
The Tom Sox captured the early lead when Ramon Garza (Cornell) secured the first run of the night. Moments later, Walker Imwalle (Davidson) hit an RBI double. Jacob Talley (Bridgewater) kept the streak alive with a two- RBI double, helping the Tom Sox gain a solid 3-0 lead heading into the second inning.
The Lumberjacks scored their first run of the game in the top of the third inning, but the Tom Sox were able to get one back in the bottom of the frame. An RBI single by Keegan Woolford (Shenandoah) gave the Tom Sox a 4-1 advantage.
The sixth inning started off rough after the Lumberjacks scored a pair of runs. Unsurprisingly though, the Tom Sox had a major comeback in the bottom of the inning, racking up five runs to build a six-run lead.
During the strong inning sixth inning, Cayman Richardson (Virginia) and Kevin Madden (Virginia Tech) each notched RBI singles. Following the back-to-back singles, Talley registered a sacrifice fly, and Jacob Selden (Randolph- Macon) blasted a two-run home run, bringing the Tom Sox to an impressive 9-3 lead.
