BY TYLER FANNIN

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The Charlottesville Tom Sox captured their 10th straight win against the Woodstock River Bandits with a score of 10-6 on Wednesday night.

The Tom Sox stumbled out of the gate early, giving up two runs to the River Bandits in the top of the third inning. Charlottesville got one run back in the bottom of the third. Chase Sanguinetti (Florida State) drove in Dan Harwood (Wooster) with an RBI single, before being thrown out at second to end the inning.

Woodstock added to its lead in the top of the fourth. Michael Marrale hit a double to bring in Connor Hood and Jaylon Deshazier to the extend the River Bandits’ advantage to 4-1.

The Tom Sox responded in the bottom of the frame. Gregory Ryan Jr. (Pittsburgh) scored on a HBP to trim the Woodstock lead to 4-2. Shortly after Ryan crossed home plate, Nick Holesa of Woodstock walked Kevin Madden (Virginia Tech) to bring Matt Cooper (Clemson) home.

The River Bandits extended their lead in the top of the fifth inning, but once against Charlottesville answered right back.

Woodstock walked in a pair of runs to tie the game for the first time at 5-5. The series of walks led to the River Bandits making a pitching change late in the fifth. Following the shift on the mound, Madden sparked the offense with a double to bring home both Cooper and Jacob Selden (Randolph Macon), and gave the Tom Sox a 7-5 lead.

Charlottesville added three insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning, thanks to a three-RBI double by Ramon Garza (Cornell).

David Yourke (Wofford) got his first start on the mound, pitching for 3.1 innings. Antonio Balducci (Richmond) entered the game in the top of the fifth in relief of Dallas Repine, and did not allow a hit in three innings of work.

The Tom Sox eventually called on Brian Owens (CNU) to wrap the game up in the eighth inning. With a runner on second and third and two outs, Owens delivered a big-time strikeout to end the threat and finish out the inning.

The Tom Sox will return to action on Friday night against Waynesboro at C-VILLE Weekly Ballpark.
